Stewart Flanagin has sold Hill Drug Co. to Rite-Aid pharmacy. Flanagin owned the business at the corner of Monte Sano and Central avenues for more than 20 years. He will work at the Daniel Village Rite-Aid.

Owner Stewart Flanagin sold his business at the corner of Monte Sano and Central avenues to Rite-Aid pharmacy and will be working at the Rite-Aid in Daniel Village Shopping Center. His lease was up, he said, and he wanted to spend more time with his family.

“I decided to slow down a little bit and just be a pharmacist,” he said.

He has owned Hill Drug Co. for more than 20 years.

The store had three employees besides Flanagin, but he said he will be the only one working for Rite-Aid.

His customers should not notice a difference in their service, he said.

“This was good for Rite-Aid and good for me,” Flanagin said.

When Stewart told me several

When Stewart told me several days ago about the move, I really hated to hear it.
All customer records have been transferred to Rite-Aid, and at least Stewart will still be involved.
It will be so strange. So many years, so many trips to Hill Drugs.

I remember growing up on

I remember growing up on Pennsylvania Ave and riding my bike to Hill Drug to get a Cherry Coke from the soda fountain back in the 60's. They also had a delivery service. Phone number started with R E (REGENT) instead of 7 3.

Don't say it's so

Andy Griffith dies? Hill Drug closes? What's happening?

You forgot someone.

You forgot that Ernest Borgnine (don't know how to spell name) also died (at 95 years of age!).
