Chain Reaction Bicycles to move to larger store on Evans to Locks Road

  • Follow Local Business

Chain Reaction Bicycles is moving to a larger space on Evans to Locks Road next month, according to owners Phil and Eileen Cohen.

Chain Reaction is at 3920 Roberts Road off Washington Road, and Phil Cohen said the new store covers 7,000 square feet, nearly twice as large as the current space. Chain Reaction has been on Roberts Road for 21 years, he said, and when the opportunity arose to purchase the 4407 Evans to Locks Road property, they jumped at the chance.

“It’s bigger, but we feel like it’s also a better location with better visibility,” he said. “Everything about it should be better.”

There are six full-time employees and a number of part-time employees, and Cohen said they might hire more later in the year.

The new shop will have an expanded service department, and the larger size will allow for more merchandise to be displayed.

“We’re kind of designing this as we go,” Cohen said.

Barbeque Barn

Good luck Phil. His current spot used to be the Barbeque Barn and then it was a church for a while. I don't know why the barbeque place closed down because their food was pretty good.

Great!

I've been a customer of Chain Reaction and they are a good locally owned and operated business. Congrats on the growth!

Welcome,

Chain Reaction, to Evans.

Hopefully your presence will promote cycling and the development of bikepaths and other bike-friendly venues throughout the rest of Columbia County outside the Jones Creek-West Lake-Rhodes Hill corridor.

Best of luck to you, Phil.

Best of luck to you, Phil. The new place looks terriffic already. It'll be a great addition to the Evans Town Center area. I promise I'll come by & spend some money. We all have to do our part and keep the economy spinning...

BBQ Barn was smart to move

BBQ Barn was smart to move from there to North Augusta as Motts and Edmonds is enough for that area and they do much better in North Augusta and Aiken anyway. On the same note the bike shop moving to Evans to Lock road is a much better move with plans to extend the bike path from the canal to evans it will go right in front of their store. This will be great for group rides to use the trail to go to the canal and to access the FATS area.

eagledawg-

EagleDawg- the Aiken location of BBQ barn recently went out of business! I didn't think they were the same as the resturant that was at the Chain Reaction location.
