Barney's Pharmacy to open store in Grovetown

  • Follow Local Business

Barney’s Pharmacy will open a new store in Grovetown this month, owner Barry Bryant said.

The pharmacy, at 5135 Wrightsboro Road, is expected to open July 23, Bryant said. It will be a full-line pharmacy with two pharmacists, and Bryant said he plans to hold a family practice clinic there later this year.

Construction on the building began in January, but Bryant said plans to take Barney’s to Grovetown began more than two years ago. The store on Peach Orchard Road has a number of customers from Grovetown, he said, and the shop will be the first locally owned pharmacy in Grovetown.

“There’s a lot of growth opportunity out there,” he said. “It’s been a long time in coming, but we’re very excited to finally be out there.”

The pharmacy will have eight to 10 employees to start out, and Bryant said it will be hiring for some of the positions and transferring employees from the Peach Orchard Road store to fill others.

Wonder how long Barney's has been around. Since the early 60s at least.
