The hotel will cover 60,000 square feet, according to Jeff Castleberry, the director of acquisitions and development for a management company called The Generation Cos.
Construction should begin within the next 30 days and take about one year to complete.
Castleberry said the Augusta area is a prime location for an extended-stay hotel, because many customers are from the medical, military, business and construction sectors.
“Our demand comes from many places, from military to people opening up and training for a new retail store,” he said. “We did our homework, and we feel like Augusta continues to grow.”
The hotel is expected to have 123 rooms.
