Keller Williams expands into luxury real estate

Keller Williams Realty has added a luxury home team to its Augusta staff.

Mark Jacobs & Associates has joined Keller Williams – Augusta Partners at 3633 Wheeler Road.

Jacobs said the luxury home market has remained stable through the housing downturn. Buyers and sellers of homes priced at $500,000 or more have not been as affected by the economy, he said.

“When you’re talking about an upper tier buyer, those buyers were not really impacted by the drop in the economy,” Jacobs said.

Jacobs has more than 10 years’ experience in the luxury home market and will handle listing properties and working with sellers. Agents P.J. Furno and Bruce Dietz will interact with buyers. Neighborhoods in Augusta and Aiken such as River Island, West Lake, Mount Vintage and Champions Retreat are some of the communities where they will focus their attention.

The Augusta area tends to attract luxury home buyers from interested in retiring from Northern states, horse lovers or golf fans, Jacobs said.

“They know what they want, and they won’t settle for less,” he said. “They’re very difficult to work with and please, but the payoff is bigger.”

Jacobs said he often has buyers pay cash for extensive estates.

“Once you get into this price range, you aren’t looking for a functional home anymore,” he said. “You’re looking for a status symbol, a lifestyle.”

Austin, Texas-based Keller Williams Realty Inc. is a real estate franchise company with more than 80,000 agents operating in about 690 markets.

I was talking to a man

I was talking to a man looking for a $500,00 house the other day. Said he would pay cash. I offered him a double wide with a creek view for a lot less. He's still trying to talk his wife into it. Oh well, life goes on.

if you look at the market as

if you look at the market as a whole in augusta nothing over 350k is selling. i am in the busines so i see it regularly.

Keller Williams is not the right place to do this estates homes division. Their agents make money off of recruiting other agents not actually selling real estate. Thats how they attracted so many agents so quickly from Meybohm and Blanchard & Calhoun. Its a big pyramid scheme. One day the pyramid will crumble and all of those agents will either get out of business or go to another firm. Problem with the pyramid structure is nobody is ever really selling anything. Oh well better for the rest of us hard working agents.

This firm isnt even owned out of augusta...
