Formerly called UrbanBody and located in the 1200 block of Broad Street, the studio offers classes that provide full-body workouts that are popular in Los Angeles and New York City.
Co-owner Amy Iannacone said the name UrbanBody didn’t fit the move to Surrey Center, so it was changed to Oxygen.
“Now you can do it all here – shop, dine, and work out,” she said. “We felt like Surrey Center was a great neighborhood location.”
One class that Iannacone and her staff are excited about is Energy Barre, a class that incorporates a ballet barre and light hand weights to shape and elongate all of the major muscle groups. Classes like this are taking off in larger cities, Iannacone said, and she thinks Augusta will have fun with it as well.
“A lot of the stars swear by this,” she said.
Oxygen is double the square footage of UrbanBody with twice as many instructors, now more than 10, and more than 40 classes every week.
UrbanBody was in business for two years at its downtown location.
