Goodwill Industries is expanding into Grovetown.

A new donation truck and attendant will be located in the Grovetown Walmart parking lot every Thursday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA.

Goodwill’s communications director Susan Everitt said the truck location will serve as a way for Grovetown residents to make donations, but also serve as a thermometer for interest and demand for a Grovetown Goodwill retail location.

“It’s a good indication of donor interest in the area,” Everitt said. “It’s the first step in seeing if it’s a good fit, and we think it will be.”

Sure seems like a waste of

Sure seems like a waste of funding to pay someone to sit with a truck for 9 hours. I see the one at Augusta Exchange all the time in front of the Christmas Tree Shops store. The guy is sitting in it chatting it up on his cell phone or texting every time I drive by without a donor to be found. Is it that hard to drive a few miles in either direction to take stuff to one of the stores?
