Cudos2U, the Columbia County sister to the Augusta store Cudos!, will open Monday in Evans Town Center shopping center on North Belair Road.
Customers had requested a store in Columbia County, and owner Audrey Snuggs said she and manager Sloane Wiggins have wanted to expand there for some time. Six months ago, the timing seemed right, and they began their plans for Cudos2U.
Snuggs said opening a new store required thought and research.
“The funny thing is, I feel like when economic times are hard, finding the right niche is easier,” Snuggs said.
Cudos2U offers some of the product lines found at Cudos!, such as Vera Bradley, and it also has a florist and a jewelry counter with brands such as Pandora.
“The concept of the two stores are similar, but we’re trying to make each of the stores unique,” Wiggins said.
Cudos2U employs 11 people, and will have a grand opening in early November. Snuggs said opening her second store has been a surreal experience.
“We started with two employees in a garage, and now we have more than 40,” she said.
