The station would be acquired by Thomas Henson through Southeastern Media Acquisitions, Barry Barth, the vice president and general manager of WFXG, confirmed Monday.
The deal also includes Fox affiliates in Columbus, Ga.; Wilmington, N.C.; and Richmond, Va., and would cost $24 million plus the assumption of $50 million in long-term debt, according to broadcast news site TVNewsCheck.com.
Barth said he couldn't confirm the specifics of the deal but said the request was basically a licensing switch and wouldn't affect the station's operations.
"There really won't be any changes in personnel," he said.
The stations are now owned by Southeastern Media Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Community Newspaper Holdings, according to the company's Web site.
Calls to the companies and FCC seeking comment and further information were not returned Monday.
