CarMax will open its online employment center April 12 to begin staffing its west Augusta dealership.

The used car chain retailer will open May 19, about a year after it finished construction on the building. CarMax sits at 130 Mason McKnight Jr. Parkway, near the intersection of Wheeler Road and Interstate 20.

Spokeswoman Elia Imler said the company expects to hire 35 associates in sales, office and service positions.

Imler said the openings will be posted at carmax.com on April 12.

It will be the Fortune 500 company's first Georgia store outside of Atlanta, where it has five.

The store is 13,500 square feet and the lot will have 275 vehicles for sale, Imler said.

The company delayed opening the store for the last year because of the recession.

I glad to see Wheeler Town

I glad to see Wheeler Town Park moving forward. So far I know Carmax, Gander Mountain, Nothern Tool, and a subdivision are planned for for Wheeler Town Park.

Since West Augusta will have Village at Riverwatch, Wheeler Town Park, Surrey Center, Augusta Exchange, and Augusta mall.

It's time to get the lifestyle/power centers in South Augusta, Hephzibah, and Blythe or Mcbean.

Colony Plaza in South Augusta is adding 3 acres of development. Which is a good start.

Tobacco rd can definitely support a big lifestyle/power center.

Somewhere btw Goshen, Diamond Lakes, and the city of Hephzibah would be another good choice.

Then put the third one near Mcbean or Blythe by the burke county line.
