Augusta law firm merges with South Carolina practice

Augusta’s Warlick, Stebbins, Murray & Chew LLP law firm has merged with South Carolina’s Turner Padget practice.

The Charleston-based firm, officially Turner Padget Graham & Laney PA, said the partnership was effective Feb. 1. Last spring, Turner Padget opened an Augusta office, its sixth, to establish operations in Georgia.

“The addition of Warlick, Stebbins, Murray & Chew’s attorneys further supports our ability to respond promptly and strategically to our clients’ legal needs in Georgia,” Turner Padget CEO R. Wayne Byrd said in prepared remarks.

The five former Warlick, Stebbins partners and the two Turner Padget attorneys will work from offices in downtown Augusta and Martinez.

Turner Padget, founded in 1929, also has offices in the South Carolina cities of Columbia, Florence, Greenville and Myrtle Beach.

The five attorneys joining Turner Padget are William Byrd Warlick, Charles C. Stebbins III, James S. (Jeb) Murray, William Baxley Chew and Jennifer T. Kerr.

Warlick has practiced law in Georgia for more than 50 years and specializes in corporate and real estate law; Stebbins focuses on tort and probate matters; Murray is licensed in Georgia and South Carolina and focuses on civil litigation; Chew’s practice centers on residential and commercial real estate development; and Kerr represents families in juvenile and probate matters.
