An Augusta pathology laboratory has merged with University Health Care System’s Clinical Laboratory Services.
Effective immediately, South Path Laboratory is part of University, and the lab’s clinical and anatomic pathologist, Dr. Stephen Mullins, has joined University’s clinical lab team.
“This change comes as a result of lengthy and diligent research in an attempt to offer the best possible option to serve South Path clients,” said Christa Pardue, administrative director of University’s clinical lab. “The pairing of University and South Path will ensure superior quality service, a greater depth of pathology support and timely pathology consultation for patients.”
South Path is the former anatomic branch of Mullins Pathology and Cytology Laboratory, and has operated independently since 2007. The lab provided services in pathology and dermatopathology.
Pardue said the combined offerings of University and South Path would allow a wider range of lab services and an increase in service area to cover most of Georgia.
