Fort Gordon to break ground on hotel

Fort Gordon will break ground on its new Candlewood Suites hotel Wednesday morning.

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the site.

Representatives from Landlease and IHG Army Hotels, which are overseeing the project, will speak at the ceremony, according to a news release from Fort Gordon. Col. Todd Turner, the Army post’s garrison commander, will attend.

The hotel will feature one- and two-bedroom suites and studios, with 11 rooms designed to host distinguished visitors.

Amenities will include fully equipped kitchens in every room, complimentary hot breakfast, a 24-hour convenience center, a business center, a fitness room, a swimming pool and guest laundry facilities.
