Discount retailer Burlington Stores will open its new Augusta store with a ribbon-cutting event Friday that will be followed by the next day with promotional giveaways.
The 44,000-square-foot store, which occupies the former Sports Authority space in the Augusta Exchange shopping center, will employ 75 and opens at 9:30 a.m.
The Burlington, N.J.-based retailer said the store, whose physical address is 245 Robert C. Daniel Jr. Parkway, will offer the first 500 shoppers on Saturday a free Burlington tote as well as opportunities for gift card giveaways.
The company said it will donate new merchandise to nonprofit Action Ministries Augusta through its Burlington Gives Back program, a partnership with Delivering Good. It also said it would announce a $10,000 donation to a nearby school through its partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org.
“We are thrilled to open a new Burlington in the Augusta community, bringing even more jobs to the neighborhood and providing local residents with a valued shopping experience,” Tom Kingsbury, the company’s president and CEO said in a statement.
Burlington sells apparel, footwear, housewares and accessories at more than 620 stores in 45 states.
