The Island Packet reports that the Hilton Head Island Smoothie Co. has no prices listed and customers pay whatever they think the product is worth.
Store co-owner Marty Crocker says the idea is working. Crocker says sales have dropped 10 percent in the last two months, but profits have increased 15 percent.
It’s not the first time Crocker has used the concept. He brings a basket to the yoga classes he teaches and people pay what they please.
