Wal-Mart will hire about 300 associates to work at the store at Wrightsboro and North Leg roads. Most employees will begin work in February to help prepare the store for its grand opening in the spring, according to store Manager Rodney Baker.

The hiring center is at 3351 Wrightsboro Road, Suite 206. It is open to take applications from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Job-seekers also may apply at careers.walmart.com.

And yet...

...some people will not even get up, get dressed, and go down there to apply, preferring to let the government pay them to be idle.

Good and bad

Wally World is good times and bad news.
The surrounding small businesses will pay the price of progress.
Arm Robberies will go down because of fewer small stores.
Shoplifting arrests will go up.
Car Accidents will increase.
Traffic will be like the Mall.
Surrounding property values will increase.

It has its pluses and minuses.

But overall we are looking realistically at 250 to 275 more employed people. I hope Wally World gives some extra consideration to those that live nearby and can walk to work, over others further out.

In the end, it will all come

In the end, it will all come down to a battle royal between Walmartians and Krogerer's. But China will end up winning either way. Way to go I guess.

I'd be interested in knowing

I'd be interested in knowing how many of those 300 jobs are full time with insurance/benefits and how many are part time just under the threshold of having to provide mandatory insurance...
