CSRA Business Hall of Fame to induct Dudley Bowen Jr., Barry Storey

A federal judge and a commercial real estate mogul will be inducted in January into the CSRA Business Hall of Fame.

Judge Dudley Bowen Jr. and Barry Storey will be honored at a dinner at the Legends Club in Augusta on Jan. 30.

The Hall of Fame was created in 2003 by the Junior Achievement of the CSRA to recognize businesspeople whose leadership and community service are an inspiration to younger generations.

“Both Dudley and Barry’s business and community impacts have solidified their place among CSRA’s leaders,” said Tina Austin, the executive director of the Junior Achievement of the CSRA.

Storey is a partner at Hull Storey Gibson Companies LLC in Augusta, one of the largest commercial real estate companies in the Southeast. He co-founded the firm in 1992 with James Hull after working with development companies in Louisville, Ky., and Chattanooga, Tenn.

He received the Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year award in 2010 from the Association of Fundraising Professionals in Augusta.

Storey serves on the boards of Synovus Financial Corp., Community Foundation for the CSRA, Augusta Tomorrow and Athens First Bank & Trust. He is also a trustee of the University of Georgia Foundation and a member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee of the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.

Bowen is a senior judge for the U.S. District Court Southern District of Georgia. He began his law career in Augusta in 1965.

Serving as a legal officer for the Army, Bowen attended the U.S. Army School and completed the military law course with honors in 1967, later receiving the Army Commendation Medal in 1968. Bowen became bankruptcy judge for the Southern District of Georgia from 1972 to 1975 and was appointed U.S. district judge for the Southern District of Georgia in 1979. He served as chief judge from 1997 to 2004.

Bowen has served as secretary and executive committee member of the Augusta Bar Association, chairman of the Section of Bankruptcy Law for the State Bar of Georgia, treasurer of the Southeastern Bankruptcy Law Institute and director of the Federal Judges Association.
