ATLANTA -- Nine Georgia residents were on Forbes’ annual list of billionaires released on Monday.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Forbes said its 27th annual list counts 1,426 billionaires — up by 210 over last year, and including 442 in the U.S. The elite global group’s combined net worth is $5.4 trillion, up from $4.6 trillion a year ago.

Mexican media mogul Carlos Slim retained the top spot for the fourth straight year, with a net worth of $73 billion. Microsoft founder Bill Gates was second at $67 billion, while Amancio Ortega of Spanish retail giant Zara clocked in at $57 billion. The “Oracle of Omaha,” Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett, was fourth at $53.5 billion.

The magazine said soaring asset values helped boost the ranks of the world’s richest people.

Georgia added two new billionaires to this year’s list. Mohawk Industries Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lorberbaum (No. 1,250) has seen his wealth soar with growth in the Dalton-based flooring manufacturer’s stock price. Controversial religious leader Edir Macedo (No. 1,268), a Brazil citizen (listed by Forbes as an Atlanta resident) who owns the South American country’s second-largest broadcaster Rede Record and Atlanta Telemundo affiliate W67CI, also joined the list.

" They never had a fair shake."

So the left would have everybody believe.

I didn't see that as a reason for success on SeenitB4's characteristics of black millionaires.

Is there any proof? I haven't

Is there any proof? I haven't seen it.
-------
Because you haven't looked at it. Start Googling, and look at studies using real data. You can even start with the link I posted, which has proof that you haven't seen. All it takes is looking at it, and you'll have seen it. Strange, but true.

Democratic power narratives probably scratch an ideologic itch, but they sure don't match the data.

Most people born in poverty

Most people born in poverty have zero financial resources to take entrepreneurial risks. There is nothing political in this fundamental barrier to the creation of wealth. It really isn't a difficult concept to grasp.

Your link proves nothing, I mean beyond that somebody claims to have conducted a study of some sort that they claim provides some sort of evidence.

Studies don't prove anything. They suggest. The suggestions achieved are often the result of the study methodology and the analysis of the data.

There is no PROOF of your theory. It's the same as those espoused by other left-wing ideologues pushing your agenda. You're entitled to believe it yourself, even without proof, and you're free to espouse it to anybody who will listen.

It's still not proof.

Alright harley, if you are

Alright harley, if you are falling back to the position that measurable data have no meaning, we apparently have little to discuss.

So you say. I say there is EVERYTHING political about it. Further, I say there is ample evidence that not being born into wealth is not an insurmountable barrier to achieving it.

Again, it's in the interests of the democrat party to keep people poor, uneducated, and wrapped in the belief that there is no hope for them because they're poor and because the RICH won't let them succeed.

The left's agenda has probably been the single most destructive and crippling force of all the possibilities and it is mostly done by design.

Who said "no meaning?" Not me.

What I said was that a study is not PROOF. Further, I said that there are good studies (well designed, good sample, good analysis, and supportable conclusions) and bad studies (the opposite of good ones).

Your study proved nothing. That's what I said. I will also submit that since most college professors are lefties, the chance of getting a meaningful study out of one of these left-wing universities is NOT good.

Just Dang!

MLK is spinning in his grave.

How much is 40 acres and a mule worth? Depends on where the 40 acres are.
