“We’ve been wanting to be in south Augusta,” said Kevin Winters, the president and chief executive officer of the credit union, which serves employees of the Richmond County Board of Education and their immediate families.
Currently, its lone branch is in the school board’s office at 864 Broad St.
The new offices will share space in the Richmond Community Federal Credit Union and will have one office, a teller window and a drive-through lane.
RCT has about 3,000 members and is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year,
The second office will be convenient to many of the school employees who want face-to-face service, Winters said.
“We know our members look at us like a family. We want to provide personal service,” he said.
Winters said one full-time and one part-time position were created with the expansion.
“We had limited services when I started 6½ years ago. We’ve added major services such as electronic banking and bill pay,” Winters said.
Some employees were members of the credit union but had only a savings account there before those services were available. With the addition of the online services, new members have been added, he said.
