The Krispy Kreme at 2866 Washington Road closed Monday to undergo extensive renovations for the next 45 days, a company official said.
“They are taking the inside of the store down to the floor and walls,” said Walt Potter, the general manager of the Krispy Kreme on Gordon Highway.
The Krispy Kreme corporation reacquired the Augusta franchise from the local owners in August and is updating it to make the interior more like newly constructed stores, Potter said.
After the renovation is completed in early April, customers will have a better view of the doughnut-making process, he said.
“It will be an even better experience for our guests to enjoy Krispy Kreme,” Potter said.
