Visitors attending meetings, reunions, events and sporting events in the Augusta area will generate at least $947,000 in spending in November, according to the monthly prediction of the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Augusta Sports Council.
Direct visitor spending is based on the number of overnight hotel rooms occupied.
The largest event listed for November is the Christmas Made in the South event from Nov. 9-11, with an attendance of 2,000. Drawing a mostly local crowd, visitor spending will be about $70,700.
Events with the biggest money impact are the Georgia Association of School Business Officials meeting, beginning Nov. 3, with 350 visitors and $290,600 in spending; and the Augusta Rowing Club’s Head of the South Regatta on Nov. 9 and 10, with 1,500 attendees and 252,700 in spending.
Last year, the bureau anticipated $2 million in visitor spending for November.
