Owens Corning reports lower profits

Building materials maker Owens Corning reported lower profits Wednesday.

The Ohio-based roofing and insulation producer, said its second quarter income was $39 million, or 32 cents per share, from $78 million, or 62 cents per share, a year-ago.

Revenue dropped 4 percent to $1.39 billion. Also, revenue at the composites segment, which accounts for more than one-third of the company’s sales, fell 6 percent to $498 million.
