Farmhaus Burger to open on Broad Street

  • Follow Business

A new hamburger restaurant is coming to downtown Augusta.

Farmhaus Burger will open at 1204 Broad St. in October, said Sean Wight, the owner of Frog Hollow Tavern on Broad Street.

Farmhaus Burger’s space was previously warehouse space for Merry’s Trash and Treasures.

William B. Merry, who owned the building, said he sold the space to the Wights. Merry’s Trash and Treasures still has the same amount of retail space, he said.

The Wights purchased the building, and extensive renovations should be under way this week. The total building covers more than 16,000 square feet, and the downstairs space will be divided in half. Farmhaus Burger will occupy 4,100 square feet downstairs and seat 75 guests.

Wight said the restaurant will have about 20 employees and serve lunch and dinner.

“I have another restaurant that I’m going to be doing in January in the other half,” Wight said.

The second floor will contain seven apartments, he said.

Farmhaus Burger is focused on using local products. Wight said he has developed a relationship with an Angus farmer in South Carolina, where he will purchase all of the restaurant’s beef. Farmhaus Burger will also offer milk shakes made with local milk, he said.

“Everything will be homemade like it is at the Tavern, all our ketchups and we’ll cut our fries fresh every day,” Wight said. “Everything will be made from scratch, but it will be affordable.”

Farmhaus Burger will also have a full bar, he said.

Affordable

I'm tired of the use of this word 'affordable.' Some people can afford anything. Everyone can afford something. just tell the people the price and let the people decide what's affordable.

Congratulations to Farmhaus Burgers & Merry's. A good deal for both of them and a good location on Broad. I wish them much success.

Let me get this straight...there's going to be 2 restaurants owned by the Wights in the same building? Well, it's got to be successful because....wait for it...everyone knows 2 Wights don't make it wrong!!!

Thank you --- thank you!!! I'll be here all week!! Please don't forget to tip your waitressess!!

This is not new construction, countyman. Nothing is "growing", in this instance. One business closes down, another buys the vacated premises and reopens them under a different banner. Net growth = zero.

That's the nature of the market. Unsuccessful businesses disappear and others take their place.

Great News For Downtown

In my opinion, Frog Hollow Tavern is the best restaurant in Augusta.
Sean Wright really knows how to run a restaurant and deliver a great product.
I'll be a patron at Farmhaus. Concept sounds great.
Love to support locally owned, chef driven restaurants as opposed to the national chains

Frog hollow is a rare but yummy treat for us, so happy to see a new venture that we can enjoy more often. Nothing but good things expected here!

Sounds promising. Never been

Sounds promising. Never been to Frog Hollow myself, but have heard nothing but good things about it. A good burger joint sounds right up my alley, though.

So now we'll have the White's building and the Wight's building... ha!
