Farmhaus Burger will open at 1204 Broad St. in October, said Sean Wight, the owner of Frog Hollow Tavern on Broad Street.
Farmhaus Burger’s space was previously warehouse space for Merry’s Trash and Treasures.
William B. Merry, who owned the building, said he sold the space to the Wights. Merry’s Trash and Treasures still has the same amount of retail space, he said.
The Wights purchased the building, and extensive renovations should be under way this week. The total building covers more than 16,000 square feet, and the downstairs space will be divided in half. Farmhaus Burger will occupy 4,100 square feet downstairs and seat 75 guests.
Wight said the restaurant will have about 20 employees and serve lunch and dinner.
“I have another restaurant that I’m going to be doing in January in the other half,” Wight said.
The second floor will contain seven apartments, he said.
Farmhaus Burger is focused on using local products. Wight said he has developed a relationship with an Angus farmer in South Carolina, where he will purchase all of the restaurant’s beef. Farmhaus Burger will also offer milk shakes made with local milk, he said.
“Everything will be homemade like it is at the Tavern, all our ketchups and we’ll cut our fries fresh every day,” Wight said. “Everything will be made from scratch, but it will be affordable.”
Farmhaus Burger will also have a full bar, he said.
