Chamber leader is leaving N. Augusta

Brian Tucker, the president of the Greater North Augusta Chamber of Commerce, announced Tuesday that he has accepted the job of president of the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce in Georgetown, S.C., south of Myrtle Beach.

“This decision has not been an easy one,” Tucker said in news release. “Since I moved here in 1999 this community has taken me in and treated me as its very own. North Augusta is my family.”

Tucker’s announcement did not say when he would be leaving.

Credit card breach worse than thought

ATLANTA — A major processor of credit and debit cards suspects the fallout from a recent security breach may be worse than it initially believed.

Global Payments Inc. discovered computer hackers may have broken into systems containing personal information about an unspecified number of shoppers.

The company learned about the intrusions as investigators dug deeper into a series of break-ins that stole data from as many as 1.5 million credit card accounts. The breach was first reported in late March.
