Augusta gas prices fall

  • Follow Business

How low will gasoline prices go? In Augusta, the average price for a regular gallon on Monday was down 7 cents from a week earlier. At $3.13, the Augusta price is far below the Georgia average of $3.30 and the $3.54 national average, according to AAA.

According to gasbuddy.com, Costco on Alexander Drive and Sam’s Club on Bobby Jones Expressway were selling gas for $2.98 a gallon at midday Monday. Several retailers in North Augusta were also advertising prices below $3.

South Carolina prices currently average $3.12, down from $3.44 a month ago. The Georgia average is about 28 cents below the price one year ago and 24 cents below the price one month ago.

The European debt crisis and slow economic growth in China and the United States are keeping oil prices below $85 a barrel, AAA spokeswoman Jessica Brady said in a news release. Slow economic growth created concern that fuel demand will continue to drop in the coming months.

Doggone it President Obama,

Doggone it President Obama, get those prices back up. We wouldn't want your opposition to have to recant and self immolate.

Well at least they can afford the gas should they choose to do so.

Say, Mr. President, did Willard send you a thank you note for making his bus tour affordable? He didn't? How gauche. Ingrate.

Thank you, Mr. President!

Thank you for lowering gas prices!

Thankfully, we have a European debt crisis and slow economic growth in China and the United States to keep oil prices below $85 a barrel.

That is wonderful news!

On a side note, thank you lowering unemployment too! By driving people out of the workforce, you have managed to drive down the unemployment rate.

I think RA was being facetious.

People were foaming at the mouth and blaming Obama as gas prices climbed. Now that they are going the other direction, there is silence (not even an admission that the President has little control at all).
