Augusta businessman elected to board for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. United Inc.

Nick Evans Jr., the chairman of ECP Benefits and ECP/Trinity in Augusta, has been named a new board member for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. United Inc.

Birmingham, Ala.-based Coca-Cola Bottling Co. United Inc. is the third largest Coca-Cola bottling company in the U.S. Evans is one of two members elected to the board by shareholders on April 24.

Evans holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Augusta State University. He started his career at Georgia Railroad Bank and later joined Abitibi Southern Corp.

In 1974, he began his career in television sales in Augusta and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pa. He returned to WAGT-TV in Augusta as general sales manager and later became president and general manager. He was president and CEO of Spartan Communications in Spartanburg, S.C., from 1987 to 2000.
