The Internal Revenue Service is relocating its Augusta office Friday.

The office will move about half a mile, from 2743 Perimeter Parkway to 3156 Perimeter Parkway at Phoenix Building 3 in Augusta.

The Taxpayer Assistance Center at the current location will close Friday for the move and will re-open at the new office at noon on Monday, April 30.

“The space will allow us to grow efficiently to better serve the taxpayer,” said IRS spokesman Mark Green.

Green said the IRS routinely assesses office and space needs. The new space will better accommodate IRS space and staffing needs, he said.

The Taxpayer Assistance Center provides one-on-one personal tax help for people who feel their tax issues cannot be resolved online or by phone.

For more information about the services offered at the Taxpayer Assistance Center, visit or call (706) 868-1374 for a recorded message. No appointment is necessary, according to a release.
