Augusta metro area posts net loss of 500 jobs in February

The Augusta metro area had a net loss of 500 jobs in February, according to Georgia Department of Labor statistics.

Retail trade shed 1,000 jobs last month. About 200 jobs were lost in professional and business services, and the information sector lost about 100.

The area posted gains in health and education and leisure and hospitality, 300 in each sector, and gained about 100 jobs in state government.

According to the state, there are 204,800 people with work in the six-county metro area.

oh my. yesterday, a nice reporterette from reuters, was orgasmic that augusta's umemployment had fallen .002 % from 01/2011 to 01/2012. now we've lost 500 jobs in february? with the huge economic recovery taking place, this can't be true! say it ain't so joe, say it ain't so?
