The Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau worked with more than 70 family reunions in 2011, and they are reaching out to make numbers for 2012 even larger.

The CVB is holding a free family reunion workshop from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kroc Center, 1833 Broad St. The workshop will feature a session called “ABCs of Family Reunion Planning” and tours of hotels and attractions. Attendees will also be told about the resources the CVB has for planning a family reunion.

Family reunions brought $2.6 million in economic impact to Augusta last year, and the largest family reunion brought nearly 800 family members together. Michelle Bovian, the CVB sales manager, said the CVB wants to help family reunions run as smoothly as possible.

“Family reunions can be stressful,” Bovian said. “We can help planners make their event easy and enjoyable for all of their attendees.”
