A new food delivery service has opened in the Augusta area.
Owned by Pritesh Bhakta and Amit Patel, 706 Foods delivers lunch and dinner to Augusta, Evans, Martinez and parts of North Augusta. They have plans to expand service to Fort Gordon, Grovetown and other parts of North Augusta, Bhakta said.
“People with busy schedules, people on the go, just don’t have the time to pick up food or they don’t want to go out and pick up food. We want to give them an option to get food from their local restaurants delivered right to them,” Bhakta said.
Bhakta said the target clients are working professionals, especially doctors and nurses, who often don’t have time to leave the office for meals.
The owners incorporated the local area code into the name of the business. 706 Foods has three part-time workers, including on-call drivers and someone to answer calls. To keep overhead low, the delivery service does not have a storefront location, but this will become necessary as the business grows, he said.
706 Foods delivers food for Garlic Clove Italian Eatery, Yo Pizza, Kinja Sushi, Miyako Sushi and Steakhouse and Naan Kabab and plans to add more locally owned restaurants. It will also provide food for small dinner parties, Bhakta said.
“Augusta has a lot of independent restaurants that many places don’t have. It’s got a lot of variety. We try to have a little variety of every cuisine available,” he said.
Customers order through 706 Foods’ Web site or call center. Customers will be charged a $4 delivery fee.
