Augusta sales tax collections increase

  • Follow Business

Augusta’s sales tax collections for November were 2.4 percent higher than in November 2010, the city reported Wednesday.

According to Timothy Schroer, the deputy director of finance, Augusta collected $33.1 million, up from the $32.3 million collected in November 2010.

Officials also reported that the revenues were ahead of the budgeted amount by 2.1 percent.

“Our continued pace of sales tax collections exceeding both budgeted estimates as well as last year’s collections is undoubtedly a good sign for our local economy,” Mayor Deke Copenhaver said in a statement.
