MOUNT HOPE, W.Va. — Georgia-Pacific has notified workers at its Mount Hope plant that production will stop by Oct. 1.
Plant manager Neil Bell sent a 60-day notice Monday to workers. The plant employs about 100 workers.
According to the notice, the shutdown is expected to last longer than six months.
Georgia-Pacific spokeswoman Melodie Ruse says it's unclear when the plant would reopen, or whether the shutdown would be permanent.
The Mount Hope plant produces oriented strand board for residential construction. Ruse says the building material isn't in demand.
Ruse says the company shut down the plant last December for the same reason.
