In hopes of raising money for Special Olympics, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, Aiken Department of Public Safety, 2nd Circuit Solicitors Office, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and WSI-SRS will hold the 2014 South Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run on Thursday.

Law enforcement officers are participating to bring awareness and support to more than 20,000 athletes statewide, according to a statement from Aiken County Sergeant Jason Feemster.

Runners will meet at the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at 8:30 a.m., where they will be shuttled to TD Bank, 142 Chesterfield Street. The run will move through downtown Aiken, and arrive back at the Sheriff’s Office before 9:30 a.m.

A team of runners will then complete a 26-mile relay from the Sheriff’s Office to the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department in Lexington County.
