Aiken horse won't run Monday

Palace Malice, of Aiken’s Dogwood Stable, will not run in the Hopeful Stakes on Monday because of a pronounced bucked shin,  September 3, Dogwood Stable president Cot Campbell announced.

Palace Malice, a 3 1/4 length winner of a six and a half furlong maiden race on August 4 at Saratoga, worked for the Hopeful on Monday for Todd Pletcher and he came out of it with the shin, Campbell said.

“He is a May foal, so it’s not a complete shock that he has bucked. But it is a blow, because we thought he would be salty to accomplish Dogwood’s third win in the Hopeful. But now he ships this weekend to Dr. Bob Copelan in Kentucky and will be treated for the shin problem. He will then rehab in Aiken for a three-year-old campaign in Florida.”
