Ryan Keith Doolittle, 24, of Aiken, is charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Vincent N. Brown, 23, early Saturday morning.

Aiken Public Safety’s Capt. David Turno said 24-year-old Ryan Keith Doolittle, of Aiken, was out with Vincent N. Brown, 23, of Aiken, and a third person late Friday night. The three ended up at an apartment complex on Fairway Ridge in Aiken.

At 2:42 a.m., Doolittle and Brown got into a heated argument that led to Doolittle firing off a “number of rounds,” Turno said, one of which hit and killed Brown.

Doolittle fled the scene in a car.

Aiken Public Safety and Aiken County Sheriff’s officers got a detailed description of Doolittle’s vehicle from the third person in the group and were able to track him down at a house where he was arrested while in bed.

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said Brown’s autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.

Blame welfare? Why? This wasn't a robbery. There's no evidence he needed money to buy drugs or felt entitled to the possessions of another man as a result of a life spent sucking at the gubmint teat. This was an argument with an acquaintance which turned violent, not a home invasion or the hold up of a 7-11, which is what we usually read about here every day. Try again.

Blame his parents? Maybe. Maybe not. They could be a factor.

Blame thug culture? Why? It's unusual to see groups of white men walking the streets holding up their pants with one hand and gesticulating to the lyrics of violent rap "music" with the other hand.

Try to think things through before you make yourself look ridiculous.

Our southern brothers are years behind...

glenngasrryross..I have often commented on why, with things as they are, a person would move from an advanced city such as Boston to the south. Seems to me like they must like conditions in the south just fine ?

glengarryross, it is truely

glengarryross, it is truely sad that you are so unhappy here in this area and have been exposed to what you feel is ignorance relating to "non-white" races. Maybe it's the company you keep. I've found an overwhelming acceptance between those of all races in my community, church, and workplace over the past 25 years.

glengarryross, thank you for witnessing here. it's really remarkable, this place. and if you say anything, you hear back that you must just be a miserable person. people who aren't hurt by racism just don't see it roun heah. they don't see it, so it doesn't exist, and therefore anyone bothered by it is nuts, dangerous and unwelcome.
the comments in this and other locals paper (the alternative?) and websites are so racist, but so many people can't see it at all. they go on and on about how racism does not exist and prove it by blaming minority culture for all the problems minorities face. i guess since they blame culture rather than genetics, they figure that's not racism. a radio guy around here is notable for this mental gymnastic fail.

I don't yet know why

I don't yet know why glengarryross brought race into this.
I don't see anything to indicate that race was involved.
