Smart911 allows residents to create a profile of vital information that will be displayed to 911 dispatchers when an emergency call is made. Responders can then use the information, which can include photos, medical conditions and household data, when responding to the call.
The service is free and can be used anywhere in the country that supports Smart911. More than 20 states use the service.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Nancy Bonnette Library, 204 Park St. NE, Wagener. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office will also be on-site to help with registration. Deputies will give tours of the Mobile Command Post and offer giveaways for children.
