Nearly two months after a sexual assault in Aiken County, all authorities have to go on is a sketch.
Shortly after the Jan. 3 rape of a 24-year-old woman at her Aiken County home, Pennsylvania authorities contacted the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office after they saw similarities between two sexual assaults in Pennsylvania and the one in Aiken.
“They though he had relatives in Aiken, S.C., but it turned out to be closer to York, S.C.,” Aiken County sheriff’s Capt. Troy Elwell said Tuesday.
In the Aiken County case, the victim told authorities she had stepped outside her home on Kiwi Court around 9:30 a.m. to check her mail. When she went back inside, a man who had snuck in her home put a pistol to her head, forced her to undress and raped her.
“We have taken the victim for her word and have evidence that substantiates it,” Elwell said.
The man was described as a 30- to 40-year-old man with a goatee. He is estimated to be 6-feet tall and 200 pounds.
Since the sketch was released Jan. 10, authorities have received some tips but nothing that has led them to a suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at (800) 922-9709.
