The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help after a body was found buried Saturday night on Dry Branch Road near New Ellenton.

Huran Akil Dix, 18, was shot once in the back and buried in the woods, according to an incident report,

The report says Dix asked his mother for money around 7 p.m. Friday. She handed him about $3 in change and he left on a small, white bicycle. She said she did not hear from Dix all night, which was unusual. Then people in the neighborhood started telling her they were “sorry for what happened to Huran,” the report says.

A witness told officers she saw Dix on Friday night and he had stolen money from a purse. She said she later saw the people Dix was with earlier, without him and with blood on their clothes.

Later, deputies responded to a suspicious person call on Dry Branch Court, where someone told them Dix had been shot and was in the woods. Another witness said he found a black skull cap he thought belonged to Dix and when he took the officers to where he found it, they discovered a “considerable amount of blood and what appeared to be a blood trail,” the report says.

Officers asked that anyone with information about this crime contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at (800) 922-9709 or Crimestoppers of the Midlands: (888) CRIME–SC. Callers can remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of between $50 and $1,000.

It sounds as if everyone

It sounds as if everyone knows what happened to the lad. He was very young to die.

How very sad and yet another

How very sad and yet another senseless murder in our area. Life means nothing to these thugs but what goes around comes around and either in this life or the next they will get what is coming to them. Prayers to this young mans family.
