Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s two Aiken County appearances have been canceled because of a candidates forum in Charleston, S.C.

The debate, reported Sunday in The State newspaper of Columbia, will be moderated by Congressman Tim Scott, R-S.C., and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Fox News commentator.

It has been scheduled for noon Saturday at the College of Charleson. That means Gingrich’s appearances scheduled for earlier that day, 9 a.m. at Bobby’s Bar-B-Que in Warrenville and 10:30 a.m. at Old McDonald Fish Camp in North Augusta, have been canceled.
