Cracker Barrel on Aiken agenda

AIKEN -- Aiken city council members will discuss a development agreement with Cracker Barrel Old Country Store during tonight’s meeting.

City Manager Roger LeDuc said last week that the restaurant has strongly indicated they wanted to locate in Aiken for the past two years.

Monday’s discussion would indicate the responsibilities of both the city and the restaurant. If the agreement is satisfactory to council, the next step would involve annexation of the property for the restaurant, LeDuc said.

The restaurant would occupy the space where Rick’s Produce is currently located on Whiskey Road, across from Aiken Mall.

Council will also review its annual report for 2009-2010.

The 7 p.m. meeting will be held at the municipal building on Park Street.
