Drug agents arrest 2 men, find pot plants

  • Follow Aiken

Two Wagener men were arrested on drug charges this week after police flying over their property spotted marijuana growing.

Local narcotics investigators and SLED conducted a routine marijuana eradication flyover of the Wagener, Salley and Perry area Monday.

During the inspection, investigators saw what they determined to be about 135 marijuana plants growing at 7323 Wagener Road, according to a news release from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

Police also found a large quantity of marijuana seeds and other evidence, and two men who lived at the address - Timothy Leon Woodby, 52, and Roger Dale Woodby, 63 - were charged with trafficking marijuana over 100 plants.

The current level of the drug

The current level of the drug problem in America, right now, is 100% caused by the cost and apparent profit of the drug. The current cost is 100% caused by the "war on drugs". The current effort, combined with the effort of the past 75 years, is geared to NOT stop drug use or sales.
Only from this perspective is the "war on drugs" successful in any way.

Go take a trip to Humboldt

Go take a trip to Humboldt County, CA- where pot is the biggest cash crop. It's incredibly wooded and beautiful-and where public officials warn people not to go out into the woods, there are too many pot farmers that have rigged booby traps and that will shoot strangers- they don't want their crop stolen.

Yes, it's harmless, all right.

The current level of the drug problem in America, right now, is 100% because drugs are cheap and easy to get, and they make people feel good. People want them, and they always will.

They were cheap and easy to get when I was a kid in high school, too.

$113 billion is spent on

$113 billion is spent on marijuana every year in the U.S., and because of the federal prohibition *every* dollar of it goes straight into the hands of criminals. Far from preventing people from using marijuana, the prohibition instead creates zero legal supply amid massive and unrelenting demand.

According to the ONDCP, at least sixty percent of Mexican drug cartel money comes from selling marijuana in the U.S., they protect this revenue by brutally torturing, murdering and dismembering countless innocent people.

If we can STOP people using marijuana then we need to do so NOW, but if we can't then we need to legalize the production and sale of marijuana to adults with after-tax prices set too low for the cartels to match. One way or the other, we have to force the cartels out of the marijuana market and eliminate their highly lucrative marijuana incomes - no business can withstand the loss of sixty percent of its revenue!

To date, the cartels have amassed more than 100,000 "foot soldiers" and operate in 230 U.S. cities, and Arizona police are now conceding that parts of their state are under cartel control. The longer the cartels are allowed to exploit the prohibition the more powerful they're going to get and the more our own personal security will be put in jeopardy.

What an absolute waste of perfectly good airplane fuel. I guess these guys have to justify their existence with a bust here and there though.

lsmith, I am with you. If you find and destroy marihuana plants by using aircraft, it makes for some pretty high priced dope. It's especiallly high if you use a helicopter.

You don't hear of people

You don't hear of people overdosing on MJ like they do on alcohol. Nor do you hear of them toking up and then beating the tar out of their wife and kids, starting bar fights, destroying property or a whole lot more ugliness that people do on alcohol every day. The amount of money we spend fighting MJ and the lives ruined is just insane. Instead of fighting it, legalize it, and you can tax the sale. win-win and we will cut a huge amount of profit out of the Mexican cartels that are terrorizing so many people in Mexico.
