Aiken sheriff issues alert after crimes

  • Follow Aiken

AIKEN -- The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is asking residents to do the neighborly thing and report suspicious activities in their communities.

After three recent home invasions and a string of burglaries, officers want citizens to call the sheriff's office if anything seems amiss, said Capt. Troy Elwell, spokesman.

Last week Beech Island resident Randy Harris intervened when he saw three men breaking into his neighbor's home on Dicks Drive, and chased the men as they were leaving the home.

Elwell said although officers are constantly on patrol, they can't be everywhere at one time and need community assistance in reporting crimes.

Residents can call (803) 648-6811 to report a non-emergency.

if you catch them in your

if you catch them in your home, call AFTER you shoot and kill them...that way you won't have to go thru the i.d./info process. it makes for more efficient and effective use of law enforcements time and resources, and sends a pretty clear message to criminals that you never know what's behind "door #1"...is it a "booby prize" or "booby trap"? NOBODY likes to get ZONKED!

Even if they are running away

Even if they are running away just "claim" you saw them pulling something from their pocket. Its your word vs. a dead mans.

Better to be judged by 12 then carried by 6

It doesn't matter in SC

It doesn't matter in SC countyman. You invade a home and you get shot then as Metallica says "nothing else matters." A dead perp has yet to ever testify. Put some aluminum foil or an empty toilet roll in their dead hand if you wish and claim it was a weapon.

Flick, click, boom is the only way to stop these parasites.

Yea, we know that they can't

Yea, we know that they can't be everywhere all the time, but you can usually find up to four deputy cars at the Circle K across from Bob Richard's Toyota around 2 am sucking down all the free coffee they can hold. I agree they deserve a break but 4 cars in the same place at the same time...just plain pitiful.
