A deputy jailer with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office who was arrested and charged for DUI this weekend has been fired, according to authorities.
Montana Dawkins was fired Monday. She was charged Sunday morning with DUI, driving on the wrong side of the road and no proof of insurance.
“Because of her position in law enforcement bestowed upon her, to say we are disappointed is an understatement,” Maj. Steve Morris with the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Dawkins, who has been with the sheriff’s office since Aug. 31, 2016, has since been released on $1,565 bond.
