Mail theft reported at Grovetown, Evans post offices

Officials at two Columbia County post offices reported delivery boxes were broken into over the weekend.

On Monday morning, a manager at the post office at 200 John Deere Parkway in Grovetown called the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office to report someone pried open the door to the drive-up mailbox between Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and 8:40 Monday morning. He was not sure how much mail was stolen, but said several hundred pieces of mail are usually left over the weekend.

Also on Monday morning, a manager at the Evans post office at 607 Ronald Reagan Drive contacted the sheriff’s office to report a drive-up mailbox had been pried open at some point between Sunday at 5 p.m. and 8:40 Monday morning.
