Five people are in custody on drug charges following a search by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.
Deputies with the narcotics division of the sheriff’s office executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Zack Street in Waynesboro on Wednesday.
As a result of the search, five people were arrested at the scene and charged. Marijuana, oxycodone and a stolen firearm were located during the investigation.
Malik Ra’Shun Jenkins, 20, was charged with marijuana possession. Travis Donta Walker Jr., 20, Dalvin Audrell Williams, 20, and Justus Gabriel Davis, 25, were charged with felony marijuana possession with intent to distribute.
Kennan D’Mal Cummings, 27, was arrested and charged with felony marijuana possession with intent to distribute, felony possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and felony possession of a stolen firearm.
“We had 3 murders in Burke County last year and one murder this year, all of which were related to the sale of illegal drugs,” said Chief Deputy Lewis C. Blanchard. “Our investigators and deputies will continue a pro-active approach towards drug activity in an effort to reduce violent and property crimes as well as save lives. We are extremely proud of our narcotics investigators and all other deputies who participated.”
