Woman arrested, charged in Travis Road shooting

A woman alleged to be involved in a Jan. 24 shooting on Travis Road has been arrested, according to authorities.

Mercel Deonmina Keith, 26, of Hephzibah, was arrested Monday at 833 Telfair Street and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana.

Keith’s bond has been set at $14,900.

On Jan. 24, deputies were dispatched to 2324 Travis Road, where they found Jaraad Waheem Bolton, 30, of Augusta, with a gunshot wound to the left side of his stomach, a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office report states.

As deputies were checking on the victim they saw a female, identified Keith trying to move a vehicle near the residence.

The suspect jumped a fence and ran behind another residence after being instructed to stop.

Bolton told deputies he and Keith had been fighting over the gun when she shot him.

Bolton was taken to AU Medical Center for treatment.
