Three people are in custody on murder charges in connection with Wednesday’s homicide in Waynesboro, according to authorities.
Burke County sheriff’s deputies found the body of a man in the backyard of a residence on Queen Court, a Burke County Sheriff’s Office news release states. The deputies were backing up Waynesboro Police after a call came in about shots fired.
The victim was identified Wednesday afternoon as Justin Antonio Waltower, 24, according to Burke County chief deputy Lewis Blanchard.
Search and arrest warrants were secured for Jadan Tyre Hughes, 18, Malik Itsseckia Palmer, 18 and Michael Turner Jr., 16, and all were arrested at separate locations without incident. Turner was charged as an adult.
Waynesboro Police Department officers and investigators, Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents, District Attorney Natalie Paine, Sheriff Alfonzo Williams, Burke County Road Patrol deputies, Crime Suppression team members and narcotics officers assisted in the investigation.
