Prison employee charged with trading with inmates

An Augusta State Medical Prison employee was charged with trading with inmates Friday after she was allegedly caught with 110 grams of tobacco.

Nikeria B. Ross, 23, said Monday during her initial appearance hearing in Richmond County Magistrate Court that she was also fired Friday. Ross had been a food services worker at the prison.

Noting Ross’ lack of any criminal history, Magistrate Judge Stephen Shepard set a $10,000 bond for Ross.
