Families in the Augusta area got to have some weekend fun at Saturday’s Wrangler Family Fun Fest at the James Brown Arena as part of the Augusta Futurity.
Goats, ponies, sheep and even a camel came out to entertain families prior to the afternoon’s Futurity activities.
For Tom Case of Martinez, the event was perfect for a “lazy” Saturday.
“Just something fun to do, and the kids are loving the animals,” he said. “They don’t get much exposure to that.”
Children donned boots and hats to get the real cowboy experience as they climbed aboard ponies for rides and fed animals.
Eight-year-old Grant Sibley said his favorite part was feeding the camel.
“His tongue felt really weird. It was cool,” he said.
Outside the arena, children and adults enjoyed climbing atop the big green tractor provided by John Deere.
