The Grovetown High School community will honor the life of a student killed in a car accident Wednesday with a balloon release Saturday.
The balloons honoring Shaylin Foster, a 17-year-old avid soccer player, will be released at the school’s soccer fields at 5 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring their own blue or silver balloons and sharpies.
“I knew Shaylin and her family personally and can say she had an amazing passion for life, always willing to help others, always positive, always smiling, and the embodiment of a student who leads the way at Grovetown High School,” said Principal Craig Baker. “She will be truly missed by many in both the Harlem and Grovetown communities. Please keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.”
Baker said school psychologists and and counselors were on-site for the remainder of the week for students and staff.
Foster was killed when she left Old Louisville Road, over-corrected and collided with the driver of a 2016 Ford Mustang. No charges will be filed.
